Class Officers Expectations & Responsibilities

THS Class Officer Expectations

1.  Take Initiative:  Noticing what needs done and taking action.  Encouraging others to participate.

2. Active ParticipationAttending and participating in group meetings and activities

3.  Constructive Contribution: Improving quality of activities; fostering creativity; bringing unique skills and abilities that aid in the quality of the final products; and providing leadership

4.  Supported Group ProcessEliciting, valuing, and respecting the viewpoints and input of others; making room for quiet members or not overshadowing others; mediating arguments and relieving tension; lending a positive attitude, and other maintenance roles that enhance group process and climate

5.  Communication: Checking in with group and advisor before missing a meeting, clarifying expectations, keeping communication channels open among group members, facilitating others’ participating, and speaking/listening effectively and respectfully

6.  Commitment & Effort: Following through on assigned tasks, being accountable to group members, and working consistently to meet group expectations


THS Class Officer Responsibilities 

*Model upstanding character as a THS representative at all times

*Attend class officer and student council meetings on a regular basis.  Must give advance notice to your class advisor of your absence and provide a valid excuse.

*Attend and support all class sponsored activities.

*Participate in homecoming and prom preparations.

*Actively participate in spirit week and pep rallies to encourage peer participation and increase class spirit.

*Pay Student Council fees when assessed.

*Officers missing more than three unexcused class officer meetings or exhibiting conduct unbecoming a class officer will be excused from their post and a new officer appointed by the advisor.

Specific Responsibilities

In addition to general responsibilities listed above, the Class Officer also:

Class President 

Provides the overall vision and sense of direction for the class

Represents and speaks on behalf of the class

Serves as a role model for other officers

Recruits class members for activities 

Facilitates relationships between other organizations within THS and communicates what is happening to class officers at official meeting

Coordinates meetings at least once per month with class advisor and secretary

Works with secretary to set agenda for next meeting and meeting dates on shared Google drive

Decorates and participates in homecoming parade

Coordinates one community service event per year

Attends all Student Council meetings

Works closely with all other Class Officers to ensure the success of all activities.

Helps with any added responsibilities of the class

 

Class Vice-President of Publicity

Fills in for the president in their absence 

Coordinates class spirit wear fundraiser and one other fundraiser

Designs, produces and distributes all marketing materials  Writes media pitches.

Develops a design for spirit wear to be approved by officers

Creates an active community on social media platforms like Twitter to engage the THS class members and raise awareness of upcoming activities 

Attends all Student Council meetings

Works closely with all other Class Officers to ensure the success of all activities

Helps with any added responsibilities of the class

Class Secretary

Takes attendance and detailed notes (minutes) on class Google drive during meetings

Works with president to set agenda for next meeting and meeting dates

Sends reminder of meetings to all other class officers 
Creates or uploads all files in class Google drive to be used for reference in future years

Writes thank you notes for class events when necessary 

Keeps a calendar of class meetings and agendas on class Google drive

Attends all Student Council meetings

Works closely with all other Class Officers to ensure the success of all activities

Senior year - downloads class folder from Google drive to a personal folder so all information can be accessed after graduation

Helps with any added responsibilities of the class


Class Treasurer: 

Keeps a Google sheet on the class Google drive that tracks incoming and outgoing

expenses

Updates class officers at each meeting on the current finances of the class account

Completes forms with advisor for class activities

Assists class advisor with money counting and other data tracking

Attends all Student Council meetings

Works closely with all other Class Officers to ensure the success of all activities

Helps with any added responsibilities of the class
