Lori (Maulis) Bensie - RB Chamberlin High School Class of 1984
Music has always been a pivotal part of Lori Bensie's life. From her days in the band and choir at RB Chamberlin High School, Lori's dedication to the art set her on a path that led her to major in music education. Graduating from Kent State with a Bachelor's Degree in 1988 and later a Master’s Degree in 1996, she was primed for a fulfilling career in teaching.
Lori began by shaping young minds in music at three Cleveland Catholic schools. Her journey brought her back to Twinsburg, where she served George G. Dodge Intermediate School, teaching general music and choir. A decade later, Lori transitioned to Wilcox Primary School, teaching preschoolers - 1st graders. This year marks a significant milestone for Lori as she announces her retirement after a remarkable 36 years of service.
Teaching in Twinsburg has been more than just a job for Lori. It's been an honor, especially given the legacy she inherited; her aunt initiated the Music Department in Twinsburg, making Lori's contributions all the more poignant as she followed in those foundational footsteps.
On the personal front, Lori's heartwarming journey with her high school sweetheart continues, celebrating 31 years of marriage. Their family has expanded, with two children, Kayla and Bryan. Keeping the tradition of service to Twinsburg alive, Kayla now teaches 2nd grade at Samuel Bissell Elementary School and recently celebrated her wedding.
Twinsburg City School District takes immense pride in spotlighting Lori Bensie, an alumna who has not only contributed professionally to our community but has also nurtured the next generation. Congratulations, Lori, on your retirement and thank you for your invaluable service!
