Testing Information
State achievement tests tell us how well our students are growing in the knowledge and skills outlined in Ohio’s Learning Standards. These tests help guide and strengthen future teaching to insure we are preparing our students for long-term success in school, college, careers, and life.
In addition, each grade level and subject area tested for the Ohio State Test have different Performance Level Descriptors (PLDs). The Performance Level Descriptors are the link between the Ohio Learning Standards and the performance standards: Advanced, Accelerated, Proficient, Basic, and Limited.
