2022 Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce Luncheon
On Thursday, May 12th, during the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, students from Twinsburg High School’s Class of 2022 were awarded scholarships from many of our community’s business owners.  We truly appreciate the support our local businesses extended to our graduates.

Also during the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, Superintendent Kathi Powers presented the 2022 State of the Schools Address.  The program began with a wonderful performance by our Twinsburg High School Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. Ryan Bonitz.  Mrs. Powers then recognized the District’s COVID-19 Heroes:  District Nurse Jennifer Pinkney, Quarantine Support Teachers Mrs. Melissa Cogan, Mrs. Eugenia Green, Mrs. Anne Larsen, Ms. Christina Pistone, and Mr. Matt Utz.  Mrs. Powers continued by recognizing the work of our Food Services Department under the leadership of Mr. Mark Bindus and the work of our Transportation Department under the leadership of Mr. Mark Desmond. Both departments provided unprecedented support to our Tiger family over the last two school years.

Next, members of our staff presented unique and innovative teaching practices which are assisting our students in achieving great success:

  • Ms. Danee Pinckney – Black Voices in Literature elective course at Twinsburg High School
  • Mr. Joe Higgins – EcoTeam at RB Chamberlin Middle School
  • Mrs. Misty Johnson – IXL at Samuel Bissell Elementary School
  • Mrs. Lauren Wilson – All Kids Bike Program at Wilcox Primary School
  • Mr. Alex Popovich – The new Connections course at Twinsburg High School
Next, Mrs. Powers recognized our student heroes from the Dodge Bus 44 incident of March 17th:  Sujaan Singh, DJ Dortch, and Kehlynn Gilmer.  Sujaan, DJ, and Kehlynn received a standing ovation from all who were present at the luncheon!

Finally, Mrs. Powers recognized our Treasurer Marty Aho for his twenty (20) years of dedicated service to our school district.  Mr. Aho will retire at the end of July and we wish him the best of health and happiness in the years ahead.

We thank the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce for inviting us to present our 2022 State of the Schools Address.  See photos below!
