The Twinsburg City School District Board of Education will seek approval of a renewal tax levy on the May 7, 2019 ballot. The levy, which was originally a renewal of an existing tax levy, was approved by voters for a ten-year period in November 2008.
The 2008 renewal of an existing tax levy in excess of the ten-mill limitation was approved in order to raise the amount of $4,000,000 each calendar year for a period of 10 years for the purpose of providing for the requirements of the District. The last collection of the 2008 renewal will occur in 2019. The Board has determined that the continuation of the collection of that tax for an additional period of 10 years is necessary for the proper operation of the District. If passed, the May renewal would allow the District to collect funds beginning in 2020 for another 10-year period.
