TCSD State of the Schools Address
On Thursday, May 9, 2019, the Twinsburg City School District was invited to present our “State of the Schools Address” during the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at the Twinsburg Hilton Garden Inn.  This year’s theme was, “#InnovativeTigers”.

The event began with a Student Fair in the lobby where our preschool students shared the excitement of Project-Based Learning (PBL), our Bissell students shared details of the “OREO” writing process which they use when writing opinion papers, our Dodge students discussed the benefits of flexible furniture to enhance their learning, our RBC students showed how ozobots are programmed and how 3-D printing is changing the way they learn, and our THS students shared their award-winning artwork.  During the Student Fair, the RBC Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Tom Resnick, provided entertainment.  The Student Fair was a tremendous success because of the enthusiasm shown by our Tigers!

Following lunch, Superintendent Kathi Powers introduced the “State of the Schools Address” and then invited members of the staff to share ways teaching and learning is innovative in the TCSD.  Ms. Kristin Dehil and Mrs. Elizabeth Kinsella shared details about Bissell’s Co-Teaching strategies, Mr. Jim Ries and Mrs. Beth Mariola explained how the Chromebook Initiative and the Makerspace has transformed learning at RB Chamberlin Middle School, Mrs. Beth Wells and Mrs. Shari Jaskiewicz provided information about Wilcox Primary School’s new Kindergarten Preparatory Program (KPP) and its focus on Project-Based Learning (PBL), Mrs. Lauren Pfenning, Mrs. Kelly Reich, and Mrs. Margaret Karalic introduced the Blended Learning effort under way at George G. Dodge Intermediate School, and Mrs. Sharon Misanko updated the guests about Twinsburg High School’s award-winning visual arts students.

Also during the program, Twinsburg High School Seniors Chloe Willmott, Julianne Shaffer and Claudia Nmai were awarded Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce Scholarships while Alexander Bard was awarded the Inaugural Crown Composite Tooling Scholarship.  Way to go, Tigers!

And, Wilcox Primary School Physical Education educator Mrs. Lauren Wilson was honored as the 2019 Twinsburg Rotary Teacher of the Year!  Congratulations, Mrs. Wilson, on this well-deserved award!  Very Tiger Proud!
