The school year is off to a great start at Wilcox Primary School with a
lot of hands-on, real life learning. One great example of this is the first
project for our new Kindergarten Preparatory Program
(KPP) students.
After listening to
their teacher read The Most Magnificent Thing, a story where the main character has a great idea
and has to figure out how to bring it to life, KPP students decided to
brainstorm what it would be like to have a pet.
They considered what animals might be good pets and what a pet needs to live. Then, they worked with Legos to design the best habitat for their pet. In the photo, these students built a dog house.
This type of project-based learning is stimulating critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration among our preschool students. We are very proud of the work our young Tigers have already done in just a few days of school!
