The Twinsburg City School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Dr. Laura Hebert as the new Principal of Twinsburg High School during their regular Board meeting on April 4, 2018. Dr. Hebert begins her tenure as the new High School Principal on July 30, 2018.

Dr. Hebert currently serves as the Principal at Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield County Public Schools located in Chesterfield, Virginia. Since 2011, she has provided leadership to a high school with more than 1,800 students and moved the school from accredited with warning to fully accredited within her first year on the job. She has led the school to five consecutive years of exceeding Virginia state graduation and completion index requirements. Dr. Hebert  supervises a staff of more than 200 professionals.

Prior to her tenure as Principal at Lloyd C. Bird High School, Dr. Hebert served in various leadership positions and as a teacher for Chesterfield County Public Schools, including as an  Assistant Principal at Monacan High School for three years and as a Dean of Students for Manchester High School for two years.

Dr. Hebert is an Ohio native graduating from Walter E. Stebbins High School near Dayton, where she was named an outstanding alumnus in 2013. Her career began as an industrial engineer for Rockwell International in Columbus before she moved into the classroom as a social studies teacher. She spent 20 years in the classroom at various school districts in Ohio and Virginia. In 2003, she was awarded Teacher of the Year honors while at Manchester High School in Chesterfield, Virginia.

Dr. Hebert earned her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, her master’s degree from Ashland University, and her educational administration licensure from Longwood University in Virginia. In 2010, she earned her doctorate of education in educational leadership and policy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

“Dr. Hebert was recommended to the Twinsburg Board of Education following a thorough search.  More than fifty individuals applied for the position of High School Principal.  The Twinsburg City School District engaged members of the community including parents, teachers, support staff members, students, administrators and the Board of Education in Listening Sessions to determine the desired characteristics of the next principal.  Following initial interviews, members of the community were then invited to participate as interviewers during Circuit Interviews.  Throughout the process, Dr. Hebert’s experience and qualifications continued to rise to the top and I was pleased to recommend her employment to the Board of Education. We look forward to Dr. Laura Hebert joining our Tiger family,” said Superintendent Kathryn Powers.  Dr. Hebert will replace Louise Teringo, who will be retiring as Twinsburg High School Principal following the current school year.
