2018 High Soccer Team Philosophy

Varsity
Our high school’s most skilled and competitive players represent their school and community when they compete. Varsity players work together with a singular focus of winning a state championship. At the Varsity level, the developmental objective is for players to Learn How to Win. Training sessions focus on the execution of specific game plans, tactics and playing styles.
Coaching Philosophy: The Varsity Coach will manage the team in a manner that optimizes the team’s chances for success while maintaining each player’s opportunity to play a role in the competitive process.

Junior Varsity Blue
The JV player is believed to have the physical, technical, psychological and tactical potential to eventually play on the varsity team. The JV experience allows players time to train and develop in a competitive environment. At the JV level, the developmental objective is for players to Learn How to Compete. Training sessions focus on teaching players how to apply their skills to accomplish functional roles within the team’s system and formation.
Coaching Philosophy: The Junior Varsity Coach will manage the team in a manner that allows each player the opportunity to learn the skills and attitudes needed to fulfill a functional role within the team. Player development takes precedence over game success. Players that have prepared properly in training and exhibit a competitive attitude will be given an opportunity to test themselves and contribute during limited match time.

Junior Varsity White
Players on the Freshman team are given the opportunity to further develop their technical skills and understanding of basic tactical concepts. The Freshman team is a competitive yet supportive and patient environment. At the Freshman level, the developmental objective is for players to Learn How to Train. Coaching Philosophy: The Freshman Coach works to improve the technical skills and basic tactical understanding of each individual player. Player development takes precedence over game success. Players that have prepared properly in training will be given opportunity to test themselves and contribute during games. However there will be an intra team contest for playing time.
