On behalf of the Samuel Bissell Elementary School PTA, its our pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year!
Welcome to the Bissell PTA and please know we are so excited for this year. We are looking forward to a fantastic year filled with amazing activities, community building events, most importantly supporting our kids and teachers so that they can continue to attain excellence in education!
The primary way to make this the best year for your family, our community and for our teachers is to join the Bissell PTA! This is your opportunity to be a member of a great organization that funds many of the events and items you see and attend around Bissell. Your support enhances your child’s(ren’s) experiences at Bissell, and we want to hear from you! When you join Bissell PTA, you are not obligated to attend all meetings nor volunteer; you can participate as much or as little as you would like or are able, finding a perfect balance that is right for you and your family.
The next way to make the best school year ever is to volunteer. There are many ways to volunteer. There are the traditional ways to volunteer by volunteering your time. We have opportunities to volunteer during school hours or after school hours. Volunteering can be helping put prize packages together at home on your own time, it can be donating materials or donating items that the PTA can use at events. By joining the PTA and volunteering there is no better way to be connected to our Bissell community. You will have the chance to know what is happening at Bissell, meet other parents and teachers. This is an opportunity for you to share your ideas, concerns, and experiences. By volunteering you put your unique skills, hobbies, and interests to work!
It’s been said that the number one reason people don’t join the PTA is because they weren’t asked…we are asking! The number two reason is they’re worried the PTA is going to require them to volunteer their time…nothing is mandatory, and no commitment is required. So please join the Bissell PTA and bring a friend along!

The Bissell PTA Read-A-Thon 2023
Starting on Saturday, September 30th, the students at Bissell (2nd and 3rd Grade) Elementary will be participating in a Read-a-Thon Fundraiser. Our goal is to read 100,000 minutes and raise $10,000 to support our school! Funds raised will help the Bissell PTA fund Field Trips, Raz-Kids, Brain POP, Family Fun Night, teacher grants, school parties and so much more! There are many opportunities to win prizes!
You can use MemberHub to share with family/friends to collect donations. Instructions for utilizing MemberHub for your student's donations can be found under Read-A-Thon on the right hand side of this website along with other documents/information regarding this event!
